Data from the October 2026 demo build. Some late-tree modules are locked and their material lists are placeholders; only the active recipes are listed above.
What to craft first
- Wind-Up Tin — required for the peaceful contract. One Metal Plate and one Fish Meat.
- Rainbow Fin — required for the Harpooner contract. One Fish Meat, one Metal Plate and one Chromatic Scales.
- Hull Protection — side-front module for the main route. Coral Fibers, Bug Slime, Rope and Rubber.
- Upgraded Engine — the second required module. Ten Metal Plates, four Gears, two Machine Oils and the Carburetor.
- Braided Line / Reinforced Rod — comfort upgrades. Good if you are losing fish, but not required to finish.
Research and Torn Pages
Blueprints are unlocked in the Mastery tree using Torn Pages, the research currency. The inventory item is called Scraps of Knowledge. The demo gives you pages through quests and exploration, and the traders sell them for 200 each.
The ship tree costs 2 pages per node. The fishing tree is much cheaper; most bait nodes cost zero, and only Deadly Tick costs 5 pages. The tools tree costs no pages, but several tool upgrades are locked in the demo. If you are short, finish the main quest blueprints before experimenting.
Crafting FAQ
Where is the workbench in Dreadmoor?
The main craft table is at Betsy and Sons; the Dry Dock also has a craft table. Use the table for baits, rods, reels, lines and tools. Boat engines, hulls and propellers are crafted at the separate Ship Upgrades Table in the Dry Dock.
What is the most important material in the Dreadmoor demo?
Metal Plate. It appears in almost every boat module, repair and tool recipe. Chromatic Scales are the other bottleneck because hull protection, Rainbow Fin, Sturdy Earcrawler and the spotlight all want them.
How do I get Chromatic Scales?
Process Softgrazers at the Thresher near Betsy and Sons. The three-Softgrazer contract is the main source, but you can catch extra at the marked peaceful fishing spot if you need scales for bait or the hull.
Do I need to craft the Hull Protection twice?
No. If the module is missing after crafting, check the Dry Dock storage locker or module-storage area. Crafted boat components can be stored before installation, so you may already have it.
What are Torn Pages used for?
Torn Pages are the research currency for the ship, fishing and tools trees. The inventory item is called Scraps of Knowledge. Spend them on the main-quest blueprints first: Weak Hull Protection and the Upgraded Engine.
